PaletteGen ("we," "us," or "our") operates palettecolorgenerator.com. This page explains what information is collected when you use this site and how it's used.

Information we collect

• Usage data: standard analytics data (pages visited, approximate location by IP, browser/device type, referring site) is collected via Umami, a cookieless, self-hosted analytics tool. See "Third-party services" below for what that does and doesn't include.
• Tool inputs: colors, images uploaded for extraction, and any values you enter into the tools on this site are processed in your browser only. Nothing you type or upload into a color tool on this site is sent to or stored on a server.
• Cookies: this site does not currently use tracking cookies. A theme preference (light or dark mode) is stored locally in your browser via localStorage, not a cookie, and is never transmitted anywhere.

How we use this information

Any usage data collected is used only to understand which tools and pages are useful and to maintain and improve the site. This site does not currently display third-party advertising. If that changes, this policy will be updated before ads go live to name the specific ad network(s) in use, disclose that Google and/or other third-party vendors may place and read cookies or use web beacons based on your visits to this and other sites, link to Google's own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy, and add a cookie-consent mechanism for EU/UK visitors before any non-essential cookie is set.

Third-party services

This site uses Umami, a self-hosted, cookieless analytics platform, to understand which pages and tools actually get used. Umami doesn't set cookies, doesn't collect personally identifiable information, and doesn't track visitors across other sites — it records page views and general visit patterns (browser, device type, approximate location derived from IP, referring site) without storing IP addresses beyond that. No advertising or cross-site tracking services are active on this site. Google Fonts (for icon rendering) is also loaded from a third-party CDN — see Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy for how that specific request is handled.

California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

California's CCPA, as amended by the CPRA, gives California residents rights like the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale or sharing. These detailed disclosure and opt-out requirements apply to businesses that meet specific thresholds — currently, annual gross revenue over roughly $26.6 million, or deriving most revenue from selling or sharing personal information, or processing data from 100,000 or more California residents or households a year. PaletteGen doesn't meet any of these thresholds, and doesn't sell or share personal information in the first place, since this site doesn't collect personal information beyond what's already described above. If that changes, this section will be updated with the specific rights and opt-out mechanisms CCPA/CPRA requires.

GDPR and UK GDPR (EU and UK visitors)

If you're visiting from the EU or UK, the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive (PECR in the UK specifically) require consent before non-essential cookies or similar tracking technologies are placed on your device. This site doesn't set any cookies for tracking or advertising, and the analytics tool in use (Umami) is cookieless by design — it doesn't place anything on your device the way cookie-based analytics tools like Google Analytics do. The only thing stored locally in your browser at all is your light or dark theme preference, which exists solely to remember your own choice on return visits to this site and isn't used for tracking, profiling, or advertising — the kind of strictly-necessary, functional storage both regulations exempt from consent requirements. Cookieless analytics is widely treated as falling outside the cookie-consent requirement for this reason, though a small number of national regulators (Italy's among them) have taken a stricter position and recommend a consent banner even for cookieless tools. This isn't legal advice; if that stricter reading turns out to apply here, this policy will be updated and a consent mechanism added.
